Hello, I have just set up a Windows 7 32-bit VM under Parallels 6 for Mac (parallels version 6.0.12090 (Revisione 661142; Fri, 27 May 2011) ) Just after setup (clean machine) I installed a software that (among other settings) relies on machine name for authentication by using Windows APIs to get the computer name. It ran OK, and it correctly authenticated the "Guest" machine name. Then I installed Parallels Tools, the latest version which came with the setup I just downloaded, on the clean VM. I then restarted the VM and installed the software again, to check, and it turns out that when the Parallels Tools are installed, the software gets the name of the HOST machine instead! (Which means, the MacBook Pro). How can this be possible? The VM is set up as mostly default configurations which came when I created it. I tried changing the network configuration from "Shared" to "Host Only" but that didn't help. I'd like to hear a word from support team or Parallels developers as this never happened in other virtualization products I currently run on the same machine. Thank you in advance Giovanni Maggini
