I checked out the FAQs and I don't think any of them really handle this issue. I have a Macbook Pro, Core 2 Duo 2.2, 2 gigs of RAM. Using build 5584.

I go to open XP Professional (from BootCamp drive) in Parallels and it looks like it's gonna work.. it shows the Windows logo and the little bar that shows it working, but then the screen goes black and nothing else happens.

If I try and use XP using Safe Mode it starts loading up, but then completely hangs at this screen:

No matter how long I sit there it won't ever change. I know about Parallels tools, but I can't install them unless Windows actually starts. I do have access to the XP without using Parallels if I can fix anything like that. I do NOT however have the XP istall disc anymore.
