I had an unusual one tonight. I have a Windows XP VM decide that the hardware had to many changes in the last 30 days and wanted to re-register with Microsoft. This is a built in XP feature that is supposed to prevent swapping the disk to a new system with out buying a new license. The catch is the system was built and registered as a VM and the only hardware change was a reduction in memory and that was done weeks ago. Has anyone else run into this? If possible I would like to avoid this in the future. My solution was based on a large hard disk that hosts the original VMs so I keep the original of a VM safe and work with a clone. ( I love clones). In short I pulled off the data I needed, deleted the wayward VM and cloned the original. Updated the antivirus and windows updates on the clone, installed the data and I'm back in buisness. I did loose am hour of productinve time doing the updates and installs though. Thanks for any suggestions. Sculler
