Session Manager Initialization system process terminated unexpectedly I'm running Windows XP on a mac mini with Parallels 3.0. I get this error message when I try to open Windows - then it goes into a continuous boot loop of this message and the Windows start screen. By pressing F8 I get choices to start Windows i.e. Safe Mode - this doesn't work or go back to last good configuration - that didn't work. Hope someone has some ideas for me. Thanks in advance.
Hello, this error is often caused by pending file-rename operations that are scheduled in the Windows registry, but that cannot be completed. Programs or Setup programs may schedule a file to be renamed on the next restart of Windows if the program is prevented from renaming a file because the file is in memory. Windows checks a registry key for file-rename operations to be completed early in the boot process. If the file-rename operation cannot be completed because the file or folder does not exist, this error message is generated. Please try to repair your Windows Installation. Best regards, Stacey
Thanks Stacey - tried the windows installation instructions. I keep getting message not enough memory etc etc. Even when I removed photos, documents etc. I get the memory message. In the configuration of Memory in Parallels what should the setting be? Also, manual or automatic? Thanks.
Hello, could you please provide me with two screenshots? 1. Please go in Configuration Editor of your VM (Edit -> Virtual Machine), 'Memory' tab. 2. Please go 'Parallels Desktop' -> 'Preferences', also 'Memory' tab. Best regards, Stacey
