I'm having a problem with xubuntu 610. System runs fine, but when trying to shutdown it hangs. Restart works fine. While I can live with this for the most part, my virtual disk has grown way to large and I'd like to compact it. I found this post by Tim a while ago under the compressor forum and used it under RC1 without problems. Sean, Compressor can't do that yet although we consider Linux version for future releases. I would suggest you 1. Manual clean up of the files you don't need. 2. Run the "dd if=/dev/zero of=./zerofile bs=1024; rm -f zerofile" command in linux terminal 3. Shut down the VM. 4. Openin VM Configuration Editor. 5. Select Hard Disk in left tab, Advanced group in right tab. 6. Click Compact and wait till the process is finished. It will decrease the size of your VM well enough. Best regards, Tim However now under RC2, xubuntu does not seem to exit fully. When I try and stop the VM manually (since its hung) parallels tells me that its still running and I may lose "unsaved data" even though I have caused the VM to be halted (shutdown -h now) and the guest OS reports that it has done so on the (VM) console screen. Once the VM is stopped, if I try to compact the disk image, I get a message from parallels: Process of compating the virtual hard drive disk.,, was abnormally terminated due to the error. Please run Parallel Image Tool utility and use Defragment expanding hard disk image' function to complete compacting of the virtual disk. Also did a little research on the Xubuntu forum and some suggest that it is a problem with ACPI. I changed my grub loader line to contain either acpi=force and acpi=off. Neither setting had any affect. BTW, I still get the message ACPI: Unable to find RSDP when starting Xubuntu up (except of course if I turn acpi off). I have also tried to shutdown the VM with the command "shutdown -P now" to force a power off. This causes the same result as shuting the VM down from the Xubuntu GUI. Any other suggestions on how to reclaim my unused disk space from the Xubuntu image? Thanks in advance AreYouWireless = = = = = = = = = =
