How can you run the trial version 7 next to the existing version 6? According to the Parallels 7 manual it will overwrite the existing installation but that is a bit far fetched for a 'trial'. Any suggestion how to have two installation so I can do a real trial? Tom
Hello Tom van Peer, when you upgrade to PD 7 as a trial user, your VMs will be automatically upgraded to run with Parallels Desktop 7 (all data will be save). If you are not satisfied with PD 7 functionality, you can downgrade to PD 6 by downloading installation package from: http://kb.parallels.com/en/5802 and activating it with your PD 6 commercial license.
Hi Julia, Thanks for the response. So, PD7 will not change anything to the VMs themselves that would make a downgrade impossible? I will make backups of software and VMs anyway, but I just want to make sure what will happen to the VMs when I upgrade. Tom
Basically your VM's content will not be affected. But please review the following article to make sure everything goes smoothly and without any issues: http://kb.parallels.com/en/111871
Can you boot into Windows? Would it be possible to start my iMac in windows & not Lion? I'm trying to run a new game in windows and it runs really slow when I run windows & lion at the same time. I know that programs like Parallels used to offer this option, do they still? If so how would I do it? Thank you, Josh
I like to deactivate license (i never used as i decided to change my Mac) and use the same on another Mac. How to deactivate it? Thanks Elvin
Hello ElvinJ, If you have only 1 license, please make sure that you delete software from the old Mac. In this case you will be able to activate with the same license on a new Mac. If any issue arises, please submit free ticket with Parallels customer support letting us know the license number: www.parallels.com/support/request > Customer Service and Licensing
Thank you Julia What do i also need to buy in order to run RedHat Linux on same MacBook Air together with Windows 7?
According to Parallels Desktop 7 system requirements, Red Hat Enterprise 6.x, 5.x, 4.x is supported as a guest OS: http://www.parallels.com/products/desktop/system-requirements No need to buy another license. Parallels Desktop allows one to create several Virtual Machines. It's all up to your Mac hardware performance. Please review Parallels Desktop 7 User Guide to learn more how to create new Virtual Machine and have OS installed there: http://download.parallels.com/desktop/v7/ga/documentation/en_US/Parallels Desktop User's Guide.pdf
