    Hi
I've tried to upgrade to 4 from 3. Install gets to step 2 of 4 and says wait, but i've been waiting 3 hours and the blue bar has got no further. I know it says it can take time but 3 hours? I have to go to work!
Now, it's disappeared from the screen and when I try to start it again it comes up with black screen "do you want to start windows in safe mode etc" but then it's blue screen with info flashes up so fast i can't read it then back to the black screen.
Do i just have to wipe the lot and start from scratch? If i do that, will i still be able to use my original XP disk?

    Mac OSX 10.5.
    Windows XP Home
Parallels upgrade from 3 to 4

In my experience, the installation stalls a few times when it requires input within Windows itself. Most of mine came from my antivirus software. Since I have Snow Leopard, I can't open the VM and temporarily disable it. What worked for me was force quitting when it stalled, then restarting the VM. Then when I reopened the VM, Windows opened with the dialog boxes open. After selecting yes, the installation continued until the next stall. I wish they would have left the VM window open so that we could see this.

My upgrade install stalled at Step 3 of 4, and it's been that way for 36 hours (and counting).

I went from 2.5 to 4. I backed up the "old" virtual machine, ran the installation, then imported the "old" machine. Windows seemed to get stuck at "found new hardware" (VGA controller, which wouldn't install), and the mouse got "trapped" inside the virtual machine. I got that part figured out.

However, it was after trying to install Parallels Tools that it froze, and it's been frozen since Friday night (it's now Sunday morning).

Would the Force Quit work, in my situation?

PS: I posted about this in the "General" section, but haven't had any replies from anyone.
