Hi Serv... sorry I left to South Africa for a week... thank you so much for answering my post... Please see below my answers.
1- I am running Windows XP (version 5.1.2600)
2- I have no anti virus running anywhere
3- Yes indeed the parallel desktop resolution changes when I resize Parallels window
4- The share folders work fine, and I can acsess my mac hard drive using the shared folders or by setting up netwrok drives. both work fine.

Only problem I have is when I hit the coherence botton nothing happens. It worked in the earlier releases but upon upgrading to beta 2 and beta 3, it stopped working. I have deleted everything from scratch, did a clean install, and reinstalled the tools and It won't work. Please help.

Unable to use 3120 with key Windows apps

Is there somewhere that I can download the previous beta 3? I have been using each new beta since Coherence came out with very few issues.

Unfortunately this is not the case with RC1. RC1 refuses to let me run critical apps that I need. I think I have to downgrade until a fix comes out.

Specifically, when Windows XP SP2 fires up under Parallels RC1, I am immediately greeted with an error message from Windows when various apps begin to start up, such as Microsoft Groove and Intuit's Quicken. The messages are all very similar in that Windows states:

"The application or DLL XXX is not a valid Windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette"

When Quicken Backup Agent runs on startup, XXX is "c:\program files\quicken\xmlparse.dll"

When Groove's launcher tray applet runs on startup, Groove chokes on an unspecified error.

If I try to run Quicken 2006, it just crashes now.

I recall having this problem with one of the pre-1.0 betas too, but it went away after an updated beta was released.

    Conflict Found with Security Update

After painstakingly going through each security update, I believe I have found a conflict with the Parallels network adapter and the following Windows XP security update listed:

Security Update for Windows XP (KB902400)
    Date last published: 10/11/2005
A remote code execution security issue has been identified that could allow an attacker to remotely compromise your Windows-based system and gain control over it. You can help protect your computer by installing this update from Microsoft. After you install this item, you may have to restart your computer.
    System Requirements

    Recommended memory: Not specified.
Recommended hard disk space: Not specified.
    How to Uninstall
This software update can be removed via Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel.
    Get help and support
    http://support.microsoft.com
    More information

Installing this update causes (among other things) the Network Connections panel to disappear from Windows XP and completely disrupts LAN and WAN settings. Oddly enough, internet function may continue via bridged networking. However, all other network functions are disabled.

Please let me know when a fix is available. This is a great product. Looking forward to the final release.

    Wish List

First of all, I want to say I absolutley love Parallels, it has allowed me to swith to a Macbook Pro as my main and only computer for work and personal use.

I'm running parallels 3120 all day at work to access corporate e-mail (Exchange with Outlook) and run Office and a couple of corporate apps. I tried ussing Office Mac instead of Outlook and Office for Windows but Entourage has several key fetures missing that I need and small incompatibilities between Mac and Win verisons of office brought me back to Windows.

At work I basically use Parallels with Coherance (love it) with Office 2003 for Windows and Outlook (which I keep open on a second monitor all the time) the integration between the Mac environment and the Windows Apps is great.

Now, there are a couple of changes that would make the experience even better:

    1) The current implementation of dual monitor works but its definetley not the best
a- If you maximazie a window it ocupies the entire desktop space of both monitors,
this problem is evident as well with the start menu bar
b- Alers and Moddles windows pop up in the middle of the two monitors
c- True dual monitor functionality of some windows apps (like powerpoint) does not work
d- The usable desktop is an intersection of the two monitors resolution wich leaves blind areas
in both monitors if they are not the same rez (in my case a 16:9 for MBP and 4:3 for Monitor)

Sugestion: Implement true dual monitor support within the VM so you can use Windows to manage the two monitors

    2) Issues with use of Mac filesystem within the VM
a- I'm storing all my files on a Mac Volume and access this folder through Paralles, this way I can use the files in both Mac and Win. This works well except that some times (and not always) response time of accesing the Mac directory in the VM is really slow (about 10 seconds just to change folders) this does not happen all the time

    3) Launch of Win apps from Dock
a- If you click on a Dock icon for an App thats already oppen it wil launc another instance of that apps, or if not supported will bring the app to front with blank document instead of the current document opened
b- If I have Word and Outlook opened and click on Outlook first outlook and then Word will gain focus
c- Finally, would it be possible to do this the other way around? that is to launch a Mac app within the VM? What I would like to acomplish is to launch Firefox Mac (which is what I use as browser) when I click on a link within the VM instead of the Win browser. Maybe a Win App thats just an alias of the Mac app? same thing for PDF files for instance

    4) Coherence
a- Most of the issues I have with coherence are based on the implementation of dual monitor of parallels, so point number 1 would cover them, except for:
b- Would there be a way to hide Mac Menu-Bar when you go to full screen presentation mode on a Win app like Powerpoint?
c- Sometimes when I switch from Coherence to full or window mode the rez within windows gets mixed up (some part of the desktop will not be visible)
d- There are certain apps that wil show a pop up alert than when dismissed will leave the windows background on the screen (ex, some of outlook alerts)

Sorry for the long post and mix of issues / wish list, been meaning to post this for a while and only had the chance now.

Kudos to Parallels for a great App!

    Pause & Resume fullscreen PC

I had my BootCamp virtual machine running fullscreen and decided to pause it. So I hit ctrl-alt and selected Pause from the appropriate menu. Then I closed the MacBook Pro, it went to sleep, and I went for lunch. When I came back, I opened the MBP and it resumed, but I couldn't get the VM to resume. Hitting ctrl-alt did not bring the menubar back. I could switch to other applications in MacOS X but I could not get the VM to work. Only option was Force Quit, making me loose all progress I had in the VM.

You should email this stuff to parallels directly, rather than posting them in here. The readme does state that bugs should be emailed to beta@parallels.com

This is what annoys me, plus like stated before, ichat taking about 5 minutes to load do to it being unable to load internal isight camera on macbook pro 15" (First generation) I do believe it's being caused by the parallels USB driver as work around is to unload it or just wait until ichat FINALLY can find isight camera...These issues are new to the 2.0 usb support. SOme major issues still need to be worked out...I want USB working well in windows but not at sacrifice of them working in OS X!

What annoys me is why you are moaning about iSight not working. It's not supposed to work. Haven't you read the release notes in RC 1. In part, it says "iSight doesn’t work yet. You will notice it sending data, but no picture available."

Sorry to sound like I'm coming down on you, don't mean to, but so many posts about this, that and the other are due, in large part, to folks not reading (or understanding) instructions.

Blackberry 7290 does not connect (3120)

    Hi,

I'm running Parallels 3120 RC and when I try to connect my Blackberry 7290 every second I get a burst of notifications in /var/log/system.log.

It seems that Parallels tries to start the connection to bb and hand it off to the virtual machine but somehow this fails.

Any suggestions how to solve this?

    Many thanks,

    - Gnarst

btw. I deinstalled the Blackberry Desktop Software for the Mac.

    agreed!

    I agree!

However, to get out of this endless loop I simply launched parallels and created a new VM, then selected the previous VM and changed the settings back.

    USB not working again

    Hello,

I tried the 3094 with my USB data recorder and it worked perfectly. I tried it with 3120 and USB problems are back.

After connecting the device to Widnows XP it will be recognized correctly. The application could not work with it and shortly after trying to access the device, Parallels starts to consume as many CPU time as available.

Parallels has to be killed to work with the MAC.

The problem I have is that I deleted to early the 3094 version. Were can I download it again?

    Kind regards

    Michael

I've just found out that in order to use coherence I had to install first parallels tools . First try it dumped and virtual machine stopped. Restarted it again and it managed to work.
Tried Coherence for the first time and I can really say that it is realy awesome.
    I almost don't see that I am running XP :) .

First off, I would like to thank you for releasing such a WONDERFUL product. It's working almost completely perfectly, and apart from some issues in earlier betas, which have mostly been fixed, it seems, this application is running absolutely awesomely on my c2d mbp.

    I have one issue however.

My setup is, as mentioned, a Core 2 Duo Macbook Pro, with a 32 gig Boot Camp partition. Parallels is running Windows XP on that partition, with 1 gig RAM assigned to it.

Everything works very nicely and smoothly, I must say, the issue starts when I allow Windows to restart itself.

Essentially, whenever I choose the option to let Windows reboot, rather than shut down completely, Parallels will slow down IMMENSELY, and drag my entire OS X with it in the course of the booting process. Sometimes it will in fact get through this hanging, but it's happened quite often that I need to hard reset, because after a while, OS X will simply come to a complete stand still, including an unresponsive mouse and frozen clock, if I don't force quit Parallels, before it's come to that.

I can prevent this by simply shutting down and reopening Parallels every time I wish to reboot Windows, so it's not really that huge an issue, but I would guess this is not the way things are supposed to work.

We have tested this on my boyfriend's Core 2 Duo Macbook Pro as well, and he's getting the exact same issue, so I was surprised not to find it reported anywhere on the forums.

you don't k,mnkow how to read. It isn't working in ichat, in OS X. the notes says it doesn't work in windows this i know. My post is about the USB driver breaking USB devices in OS X. So before you attack my post you should know what you are even talking about.

    "Authorized" or whatever

I can't remember what Microsoft calls it when you have to go online and do the Windows Genuine Advantage: report yourself to the Windows Gestapo, whatever. But I ran a legal OEM Windows XP for many months on BootCamp. When I saw the new Betas of Parallels that could use the BootCamp partition, I bit. Like many others, I used up my remaining Windows installs in the next few Betas that supposedly hadn't solved the problem of needing fresh authorization each time you boot one way or another.

Then I phoned up Windows and filled in the numbers over the phone. Then, since I had done something wrong, I couldn't boot up in BootCamp at all, so I did a fresh install of my Windows Boot Camp, and then, from within Parallels, I phoned Windows again and authorized the copy. But now, when I booted into the BC partition, I was informed that I had 28 days to go, etc. In other words, installing those numbers from within Parallels hadn't authorized my Boot Camp partition. Did I do it wrong? I had understood that this was totally fixed. Is it? What should I do? I certainly don't want to buy another XP.

I'm really glad you like kludgey application functionality. I however prefer applications to work in a logical fashion.

Parallels is taking the typical small software company line. New features over logical and usable products. That's not going to go over very well with the Mac crowd. They want applications to seamlessly work. The Mac is all about the experience. 1/2 cocked workarounds just don't cut it.

    MBP Sleep when lid closed???

Anyone else experiencing problems where your MB or MPB don't goto sleep when you close the lid while running Parallels or after??

I've noticed my machine continues to run even with the lid closed. I've caught it running in my laptop bag and on the way to meetings on several occasions.

Only way to make it goto sleep is to press the power button then select "SLEEP".

This happens when I run Parallels (3120 RC1) or after I quit.

Rebooting the computer fixes the problem... unless I run Parallels again.

    Computer:
    MBP Core Duo // 2GHz // 2GB RAM.
OS X 10.4.8 with all updates.
    Parallels 3120 RC1 // Auto Memory // 512MB for WinXP Pro SP2 with all updates // 10GB HD // Bridged Networking.

Beta 3120 - Disk Space is being eaten up!

I've being using the last few betas from you guys, must say they're awesome.

One thing that seems not to be fixed is a disk space issue I have seen throughout my use of the betas.

I setup a 10Gb, 1024Mb XP Pro VM system. Then I install VS 2005, SQL 2005 Express and Ironspeed Designer (RAD Tool) and FoxIt, that's all I need. Which leaves about 4-5Gb disk space.

Then I notice my free space is about 80Mb left after a restart . I've re-installed twice now once with NTFS and the last time with FAT32. Still the same effect.

I'm not sure what's causing it, I reckon after a unexpected shutdown and when the disk scan (chkdsk) run before windows it maybe filling the disk.

I've tried Parallels compressor and check for any hidden files (pagefile etc..)

I don't know if anyone is seeing this ?
