After painstakingly going through each security update, I believe I have found a conflict with the Parallels network adapter and the following Windows XP security update listed:

Installing this update causes (among other things) the Network Connections panel to disappear from Windows XP and completely disrupts LAN and WAN settings. Oddly enough, internet function may continue via bridged networking. However, all other network functions are disabled.
Please let me know when a fix is available. This is a great product. Looking forward to the final release.
