Vista installed in Boot Camp partition. Networking works in the sense I can browse the internet, etc . However the application I need to run in Windows has a problem connecting to some streaming server but only when run under Parallels, Boot Camp by itself works fine. App people told me to tracert their server which produced the following: C:\USERS\..... >tracert www.fidelity.com Tracing route to www.retail.fidelity.com [155.199.148.24] ... 1 * * * Request timed out. 2 ditto 3 ditto --- Question: what causes tracert in Vista under Parallels, Boot Camp partition to time out?
Traceroute run from OS X yields this: imac:~ jmg$ traceroute www.fidelity.com traceroute to www.retail.fidelity.com (155.199.76.24), 64 hops max, 40 byte packets 1 dslrouter (192.168.1.1) 10.372 ms 0.484 ms 0.559 ms 2 * * * 3 * * * So at least the first one is OK.
Solved. The application I tried to run was ATP from Fidelity and the problem was it was unable to connect to their streaming server. Turned out (after 6 calls to Fidelity) that the problem was with security software Kaspersky that needed special settings to allow ATP to connect to that server. Oh the beauty of Windows.
