I'm running Windows 8.1 in Parallels Desktop 10 on a 13" Macbook Pro Retina. When the lid has been closed for some time with Windows running, the system freezes when I try to wake it from hibernation. I have all of the power saving settings in Windows disabled. I've had to begin suspending windows each time I'm through using it, which I would rather not have to do.

I understand this is an issue that has been going on for some time, reportedly since Desktop 7, so I thought I would start a new thread about it. Has anyone, user or tech support person, discovered a fix for this? Are there display or power settings I can change on the Mac side that will resolve it?

  2. @JeffreyE1, did you change VM configuration settings as described below:
    - VM config -> Options -> Startup and Shutdown
    - On Mac shut down -> Shutdown.

I don't have those options. I just have "On VM Shutdown" and "On Window Close".

Really, that's it? That's the most Parallels tech support has to offer?

  5. @JeffreyE1 did you use the lates version of Parallels Desktop 10 - 10.2.1 (29006)?

    Scan returned this message:

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some
of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For
example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. Note that logging is currently not
    supported in offline servicing scenarios.

I tried to upload the log file but your system won't allow me to. The icon is ghosted out.

I went to the page it links to; it didn't give any instructions for specifying a source. I don't know how to specify it on the command line.

  11. @JeffreyE1 could you please try to create new VM and check the issue after Mac wake up?

I tried the instructions in the article, but it kept telling me it couldn't find the files. I ran the Restore Health command again; same result.
I'll try creating a new VM. I'm not looking forward to it as it will be a lot of work, and if the same thing continues to happen; that's the end of it - I'll be purchasing Fusion.
