Hi, I'm running Parallels 11 on a Macbook Pro, El Capitan 10.11.3 and Windows 10 on a Bootcamp partition. I am also running Autodesk 3ds Max 2016 using Nitrous Direct3d 9.0 - Parallels Display Adaptor (recommended option). Hardware is 15 inch mid 2015, 2.8 intel core i7, 16gb 1600 Mhz DDR3, AMD Radeon R9 M370X 2048Mb. I am using a Thunderbolt display at 2560 x 1440. As far as I can see all my drivers are up to date. In 3ds Max, on mouse-over of a window, I'm getting a black flicker. This happens in any of the display modes (shaded, wireframe, realistic). It's not a show-stopper but it is just enough to be annoying. All suggestions appreciated.
Hi Carl, please change the virtual machine settings as follows and check how it goes. Open virtual machine Configure >> Hardware tab >> CPU & memory >> Increase the memory to the recommended settings(Green) Then go to Graphics >> allocate 512 MB as video memory.
Try changing DirectX version in Graphics > Advanced Settings > 3D Acceleration to 9. I would leave the Graphics memory at 1024. You might want to try playing with 3DS Graphic Driver setup, setting OpenGL or Legacy Direct3D. http://help.autodesk.com/view/3DSMAX/2016/ENU/?guid=GUID-3D6B4C8E-8C0D-4A9C-BFB0-2463803268CE
I solved this by having to revert my max graphic driver back to Legacy Direct3D. Seems like a huge compromise in performance in order to run Max through Parallels. If I run it through Bootcamp I do not get any flickering problem using the recommended driver in Max.
