Can not run Parallels 12 for Mac after Install

I Can not run Parallels 12 for Mac after Install.
I keep getting an error message: "You can't open the application Parallels Desktop because it may be damaged or incomplete."

I looked into the applications "show Contents" and there are no files in there.

I did have Parallels 10 on my computer when I installed 12. I have downloaded the .dmg installer file three times and tried to re-install.

Any Ideas of what mat be wrong?

 

Still doesn't work and I have compatible Macintosh OS 10.12.5.

Neither option worked. I know that the file from your site takes a long time to down load (4 minutes), as opposed to downloading other files at other sites (not parallels). The file at your site is only ~270 mb, so I should be able to download this file in a matter of seconds with my connection speed. The file does show up as a .dmg, installs but will not launch. I still get the same message (see attachment).

Can someone check the validity of the file in question?

@BrianJ3, please make sure that before running prlsrvctl command DMG image is attached and there's contents by path "/Volumes/Parallels Desktop 12".

"$" is commonly used as a shell prompt. You don't need to enter it. Sorry for confusion.

When I look at the Parallels application placed in the applications folder the size shows "Zero bytes". When I try to launch the app I get the same error message as before.

Thanks! I suspect this problem is because of umask setting. Parallels Desktop installation heavily depends on its value. You may workaround the issue setting mask to standard value 0022 using these commands:
sudo launchctl config user umask 0022
sudo reboot
- yes, you need to reboot to apply this setting. After that you should be able to install Parallels Desktop successfully. Then, if you want, you may restore umask setting to its original value.

You mean 0033, right? Yes, you may set value back to 0033 if you know what you're doing. In doubts I suggest to stay with current umask 0022 - this is the default for macOS.

If you do want to restore umask 0033 just do this:
sudo launchctl config user umask 0033
sudo reboot
