Hi Serv, Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately that does not work. It lets me set the dpi scaling but every time I restart it forces me into full retina display res. This is on windows 7 ultimate in a vm on latest public version of parallels. What I want is full control of res and dpi.

The problem with that 'fix' is that you are now having to use the less battery efficient suspend. Not really a compromise I like. So I moved to fusion and guess what it has the same issue! At least vmware doesn't have the process that spams my cpu!

Might be that your old air suspeneded rather than hibernated? Seems to be the cause of it. Guess what though, Fusion does the same thing. Arghhhh

I'm getting this on prl 6 on my 2011 air. Noticed laptop was getting warm on my lap and it was this process burning a lot of cpu on idle windows 7 64 vm. I froze and then defrosted the vm and it stopped burning so much cpu.

You don't happen to be running on a macbook do you? Parallels locks up my macbook when it tries to suspend to disk, and has done for all of version 6 too. If you are on a macbook does vmware have same issue as its driving me nuts enough to switch.

This issue has been around for a long time now. They are aware but no eta on fix. It is very annoying, but work around is to pause the vm before closing screen... Must admit I'm losing patience and considering a compeitor.

Anyone from support listening? Parallels is semi broken on laptops because of this and it is not hare to reproduce. Marcs description is accurate. It is around hibernate.

If anyone else is suffering may I suggest you raise a ticket? They have this on their support queue but priority is dictated by number of users with the issue who complain. The work around I have been advised is to disable the osx screen saver. Not tested this yet.

Roman above is actually the support engineer who answered my ticket! He also mentioned in his email that the fix for this is in the next release.
