Performance query: Upgrade from old to new MBP, 3GB RAM

So, I'm currently rocking a 17" beast of an MBP (2.16Ghz i think), one of the originals, w/ 2GB RAM. With Parallels (or Fusion frankly), it feels like "almost" enough power to comfortably work in both OS'es (OS X, XP). There's still a fair amount of lag and disk thrashing though, and the battery...

    Blackberry USB still not operational!

My 8700c won't reliably sync or do things like App Loader. SOmetimes it appears to be working, but in the middle of my 300+ contacts and appointments it tends to hang up. Same operation under Bootcamp (or my other Windows PC) works fine.

GA has NO FLOPPY IMAGE CREATOR

There are many win utils to make images of floppies, including Winimage. ++ for the 5th element quote. "Don't ever be ashamed of who you are"

Using PocketMac to sync with Outlook inside the virtual machine

Ok, bear with me, as this one is a tad convoluted :) The Problem: Blackberry won't sync well w/ Outlook inside the Parallels virtual machine. The USB support is flaky at best, and I can't seem to make it work consistently. Plus it's a pain to constantly fiddle w/ the virtual connection...

    Optimal RAM Allocation

I'd like to know this too. With 1GB, I'm seeing quite a bit of pausing and otherwise disk thrashing that makes me curious why everyone else seems to be having near-native performance :) I can think of these possible scenarios: 1) I need more RAM. My figures look somewhat like what...

    Using Lightscribe in Parallels VM

I would think that it's because the VM sees a generic CDROM type device. I'm not in front of my installl right now but i'm guessing thsing that PD doesn't pass through the actual inquiry string for the burner. Perhaps this could be an option for PD (pretty easy to implement).

Announcing the UNOFFICIAL Parallels Desktop for Mac Wiki!

While the forum is and continues to be a great resource for capturing info about PD, I thought it would be very useful to get something a little more persistent in place. To that end I've created a Wiki at my site, and kicked it off with some basic structure. The wiki can be found here...

    Showstopper Bug: Cisco VPN

I concur... My MBP will be used primarily for work, and having the VPN is crucial. I would suspect that this bug is not entirely unrelated to other networking issues anyway. @Parallels: Have you considered a Bugzilla or Mantis site for people to register bugs? People could be directed to...

Running a VM in the background while having a VM's application on the OS X Desktop

Shouldn't we be able to use something like: http://www.cendio.com/seamlessrdp or http://www.codeproject.com/internet/tswindowclipper.asp One method or the other would allow for what you are talking about. You could keep the VM closed entirely, and use RPC + one of these solutions...
