A little information about your environment would be useful. If you pull open a DOS window under XP and type "ipconfig" what do you see ? Can you "ping" the machine you are attempting to telnet to ? Are you in bridged mode or host only mode ? Does your network require static IP addresses...

You know that OSX is Unix right ? You can learn natively right on your OSX box. If you mean Linux, I like Ubuntu these days, it has a lot less clutter and bloat than Fedora and "feels" more like OSX and Solaris to me.

Not supported. Bootcamp and Parallels are entirely separate. Parallels cannot boot from a Windows XP partition at the moment. You need to install Windows XP again, inside a Parallels disk image. You'll end up having two copies of XP installed on your machine, one inside a real XP partition...

I have an MBP with 2 gigs of RAM. I used 512m for Windows. My "slider" in the Preferences is set at 1gig total use for Parallels. I'm very pleased with the performance. I doubt I'd try this with only 1gb.

MBP success. Win XP boot time about 7 seconds to a usable desktop. Great ! The trick here is not to worry too much about the first 2 or 3 boots. I suspect Parallels is doing something to the images, because after taking 30 second on the first couple of boots I'm now down to 7 consistently...

Are you sure this is correct ? You cannot just copy a /dev/rdisk to a regular file because the /dev/rdisk is a handle, not a file. You'd need to use DiskUtil and create an ISO.
