    MacBook Vs Pro parallels performance

I used to do just this with VMWare. It worked fine. It was a bit tricky setting up the different profiles, but once you do that there aren't really any problems.

Parallels Needs to Invest in JIRA

There are some advantages to opening a bug tracking system to the public: 1.) It allows users to search on known / open issues avoiding duplicate bug reports (freeing up developers and QA to do their jobs) 2.) JIRA allows users to vote on open bugs. This helps developers prioritize the issues...

    Beta for production

This sounds like it may be the "sound adapter bug". Try removing the sound adapter from your VM config. I had similar issues with XP under PW. I would suspend XP, sleep the mac, resume the mac and restart XP in PW and it would hang every time. -Will

    Little Snitch & Parallels

Reinstalling Parallels fixed the problem. I'm guessing that Little Snitch changed something in the network drivers that parallels needed.

    Little Snitch & Parallels

Hmmm. That didn't do it for me. I'm going to try reinstalling parallels and see what happens.

    Little Snitch & Parallels

Is anybody using Little Snitch on their Mac? I recently installed it and my parallels networking is no longer working. -Will

If they can't see or hear you, how do you figure that you are able to use iSight?

    beta 5 install freeze

I too tried this and it wouldn't work. I hate having to shut the machine down that way.

    beta 5 install freeze

I have had the same issue now when upgrading from beta 3 to beta 4 and from beta 4 to beta 5. I shutdown my VMs (complete power off) and then quit out of parallels. I then launch the Parallels installer. The installer does not detect that it should be doing an upgrade. The installer then...

    B5 and Full Screen

This feature is great. It works exactly as I was hoping it would. Great job Parallels Team!

XP home vs. pro & multiprocessor awareness

Parallels doesn't support SMP at this time so in the short run Pro won't buy you much. I'm not sure about SMP in Parallels as far as future support. -Will

    Speed up suspend?

I agree with this. I tolerate the suspend slowness for this very reason. I'm hoping that Parallels can do something to speed this up. Has anyone noticed if suspend takes longer based on the amount of memory given to the guest OS? -Will

    Back Slash doesn't work

I am getting the same problem in Cygwin running on a Win XP Pro Guest.

Which default TOOLBAR postion is better?

I prefer it on the right for screenspace. I would also like to see an option for smaller / hidden icons.

Beta 4 install over beta 3

I had a similar problem. I don't think I ever rebooted after the beta 3 install. When I installed beta 4 it looked like it was doing a clean install. The installer caused the system to completely hang. I rebooted (hard reboot) and ran the installer again. This time it did the appropriate beta 3...

    DirectX support

I too would like this support. I have issues running VMWare's Virtual Center client inside of a parallels winxp pro guest. I can run it inside of remote desktop (on the XP guest). I'm guessing that the problem is overlay. -Will

    Parallels is slow (b4)?

Have you installed Parallels tools? I'm running XP Pro and my boot does not take a minute. It is probably around 30 seconds. I haven't timed it though. Mouse movement is also not jerky. I'm running MBP 2GHz 1GB RAM 7200RPM HD. -Will

Use Boot Camp Partition for Parallels

I've done this with VMware. Works very well.

Can't see all the files on CD-R within VM's XP

Are you able to read all of the files in OS X? I had some issues with reading CDs that were burned in Windows on OS X. Could be a CD-ROM drive difference.
