    Constantly having to reinstall Parallels

First post-install run requires admin account This may not be your issue, but I have experienced similar problems with Beta 5 and 6 in that I could not get PW to run after installing (it would give an error and tell me to attempt restarting and reinstalling). In both cases I was doing an...

    Install problems

Here's what the Parallels team has to say about trial keys until GA: Before that time we'll be prolonging trial keys to allow uninterruptable operation of Betas. So you shouldn't have any problems (with that, anyway).

Problems with Mouse synchronozation after upgrade to Beta 5

The way this should work (and does as long as PW is functioning properly), is the mouse should automatically switch from one OS pointer to another (no clicking required), and it should track seamlessly between the two (requires Parallels Tools). Without PT installed, you must click inside the...

Problems with Mouse synchronozation after upgrade to Beta 5

See recent thread "Install problems" for similar experiences. I, too, attempted reinstall of PW several times and in various manners (even attempting rollback to Beta 4), with no success and several other problems. My end solution: create a new VM and reinstall the guest OS.

    Install problems

No success with Suspend Yes, the problem you describe with suspend I was able to duplicate the first time. If memory serves, my first encounter with PW problems occurred when I suspended the VM (Beta 3, I think). So I consider that functionality non-functional, and just go through a proper...

    Install problems

Kernel Panic in Beta 4 affects Beta 5 I had many of these same symptoms, and more (such as with video driver/controller, mouse synchronization, CD device, network adapter, and Parallels Tools). Rather than moving over from iMac, though, I had been running Beta 4 (after 2 and 3) on my MBP...

Market for Password on New VM?

Inquired of the Parallels team and this is what they shared: "Administrative control is in scope for future versions. Supposingly 3.0."

Market for Password on New VM?

OS X has similar administrator privs that can be configured to require authentication prior to installation of an app, but once that app is installed (in this case, Parallels), the non-admin user is free to create one VM after another. I'd want the non-admin user to be able to run Parallels and...

Market for Password on New VM?

OS X with Win XP in Parallels...not clear on relevance, though. Regardless of what native OS I'm running, if Parallels lets a user freely install a VM, they can circumvent any Internet access controls that may have been set up in the native OS. True?

Market for Password on New VM?

Anyone have use for administrator-only functions, such as requiring authentication before creating a New VM? With tech-savvy teens and my attempts to control Internet usage (administrator-only filter/router/network configuration), this is one loophole I can't plug: just create a new VM...

    That did it for me...thanks!

No Sound on iMac in Beta 3

I am not having sound success on my MBP with Build 1658.42. I've rebooted my Mac. I've verified the "PC speaker support enabled" flag is set in the VM Flags pane. The Sound option in the Devices menu remains dimmed, and Windows reports No Audio Device. What am I missing?
