Parallels 3.0 only supports Direct X 8.1. Direct X 9 will not work and applications that rely on it will not work.

Try disabling features you aren't using. Specifically Sounds and USB. If you aren't using them, most users see substantial drops in CPU utilization when disabled.

The setting has not effect when running 3D applicaitons. It can help for those fortunate enough to have 2 (or 3) cinema screens all running at max res & color.

Unless windows is reporting bad error messages, it's pretty clear you have a corrupted system DLL. You should be able to extract that single file from your install disk or the last service pack you installed. I can't remember the tool that does this on windows, but I'm sure you can google it.

You only need 1 copy, and given the poor performance (and compatibility) of the OSX version of office, I'd recommend using the Windows version. Plus the Parallels 3.0 features should really make it seamless.

I hope they keep the current beta policy of closed betas. I'm not a beta tester, but there has a been a noticeable improvement in the support forums. And for those that want to test the beta's, all they have to do is complete a simple form.

Are you using bridged or host networking? Is the VPN connection established on the OSX side of the XP side? What kind of VPN? Cisco? PPTP?

VM device speed will never be equivlent to native (Bootcamp) speed. I'm sure they will continually optimize to close the gap, but if it's raw speed you want, you should boot natively.
