imac as a display for windows laptop

Hi, I am trying to figure out how to use my imac 2017 desktop as a display for my work laptop which is on windows and uses a vpn when using remote connection. Would using Windows on Mac via Parallels solve the issue? I only want to use the imac as a display. Connecting via thunderbolt doesn't...
