immutable

Hi All Quick query - when I was using Virtualbox, I set up a hard disk that was immutable - i.e. it would read and boot, but wouldn't save anything after the session - as soon as it was closed / shut down, it would revert back to the read only disk image. Is there any way to achieve the same...
