I am still in the process of migrating my data and apps from my Intel MacBook to my new MacBook Pro M3. I have in the process noted that some programs download, but don't install. ???
I learned something today when trying to install Google Earth Pro. It only exists for Intel Macs, but I...

Hi All,
I was thinking I might install TrueNAS as a VM to play around with before committing to getting hardware for it. I understand trueNAS is x86 based and not native ARM.
I'm running an M1 Max Mac Studio and I've set the VM I'm attempting to install TrueNAS in as "use rosetta to run...
I am an embedded Linux software development engineer and need to use the cross toolchain provided by Linaro. The compiler is arm-linux-gnueabihf-gcc, version 2014.11. I specifically chose Ubuntu With Rosetta for installation. I referred to the content in https://kb.parallels.com/129871, but my...
Just wondering if anyone had tried running windows x86 on Apple Silicon? I have some legacy code that will work only on x86 windows. If yes, what version of Parallel you use and how?
I have parallels 20.2.2 running on MacOS 15.4 and I am not seeing options for installing Linux VMs with Rosetta. I don't see Ubuntu Linux with Rosetta in the Create New page and I don't see Rosetta as an option on the CPU & Memory configuration page for the Ubuntu 24.04 ARM64 VM I installed. I...
Hello,
I searched and this wasn't covered in other posts (that I could find). I don't mean to be a bother but I've tried multiple ways to transfer a .pvm linux file from my Intel-based MacBook Pro over to my new M4 iMac (Sequoia 15.3.2, 36gb) with no success. I can't compress the file. I tried...
I'm using the stock Ubuntu 24.04 (with Rosetta) image in Parallels 20.1.3 on an M1 Mac with Sequoia 15.2.
I'm trying to run a suite of programs in this Ubuntu that are amd64. For the command-line binaries the rosetta translation works great, and they run fine.
However, for the GUI apps, I get...
DirectX 12 Windows limitations prevent running of many modern Windows games in Parallels.
The Steam on the Steam Deck can play native Linux games, or use Proton play many Windows games. Steam in Linux I believe can do likewise.
Is it possible to use Parallels to install Linux, and use Steam in...

Hello there,
Hardware: I am using a MacBook Pro with Apple Silicon (M3) Processor
Goal: I want to run inDesign inside of a Windows 11 VM on my MacBook (M3)
Problem: Because of the processor I only can install a Windows VM based on an ARM image and not (x86/x64), but inDesign is not supported yet...
With Rosetta 2, shouldn't it be possible to run native Intel Windows, and/or Intel applications?
I've seen some people doing this with UTM, not sure how it compares performance wise with same apps running emulated in Windows 11 for ARM.
My issue is that most PC apps I need to run is Intel...
I'm using parallels 19 and I want to use the x86_64 emulation feature, I installed the preconfigured image (Ubuntu 22.04.2) but I'm stuck in the login. The default account name is `parallels` but I don't know what is the default password. I tested `parallels`, `ubuntu`, `parallelsubuntu` but I...
Hello,
I'm new to using Parallels and would like some insight into the possibility of running x86_64 applications inside the Ubuntu 22.04.2 (x86_64 emulation) image. For context, I am on a Mac M1 Max Ventura 13.2.1. I'm trying to run a graphical application that was built for Linux x86_64...
With Sonoma, it's possible to launch linux x86_64 vm from Mac M1 thanks to Roseta and parallels.
It should be very useful to do the same thing with old MacOS versions (intel only).
Do you think that it could be possible like for linux ?
Hi, I was able to have my Ubuntu ARM version happily running x86_64 binaries using rosetta (the one downloaded directly from parallels), but suddenly it stopped to work. Now I am getting this error every time I tried to run same binary that was working before:
rosetta error...
