3120 RC1: Does Anyone Have This & Bootcamp Working On A MacBook Pro 17" Core2 Duo?

Hi All

Just Wondering If Anyone Has Parallels 3120 RC1Successfully Running (WinXP Home)
(With Bootcamp Still Working)
On a MacBook Pro 17" Core2 Duo 2.33GHz
from a 'Clean' WinXP (Home) Bootcamp Install. (32GB FAT32)

I have Previously tried to Install Beta 1(3036) & Beta 2 (3094)
and been Frozen Out of Both Parallels & Bootcamp at the XP Login Screen
With No Keyboard/Trackpad.
(From a 'Clean' Bootcamp Install)

I have Yet to Hear of a Successful/Reliable Resolution to this Issue.
(Especially since this Version is Now RC1)

I have a MacBook Pro 17" Core2 Duo 2.33GHz and am running WinXP Home from BootCamp (NTFS) using 3120. I have 2GB RAM and 640MB allocated to XP, it does seem to thrash the disk a lot when starting and stopping Parallels, but apart from that it works well.

1 Day & Only 1 "Successful" Install.

I Guess We've All Been "Burned" With The Previous Betas(x3) & The Development Teams LACK of Interest/Response.
It Is Quite "Painful" For a Mac User To Rebuild A Previously Working Bootcamp Partition.
(Why Should "We" Guinea Pigs For NO Reason?)

I Would Have Thought Being Able To "Easily" & Reliably Install Parallels On A "Clean" Bootcamp Partition
Would Be A Priority Procedure For THIS Release.
(Obviously NOT!!!)

Based On My Experience,
This Product Should NOT Be RC Yet,
As Current Setup Procedures (If They Work) Are Too Difficult For The "Average" User.

So Close, Yet So Far To A "Great" Product.

I have a MPB C2D with windowsxp installed on a bootcamp partition (FAT32) and it works fine (well except that since I installed RC1, Rosetta stopped working).

I have a 15" 2.33 C2D with a 15 gig bootcamp partition.

I didn't find the install procedure at all confusing or difficult. It seemed quite straightforward to me.

You think you may not be receiving responses because you are whining instead of aiding the BETA effort?

And yes it is BETA and if you think RC means it is not buggy, you really do not understand the process.

I have the same system as yours and ALL betas have worked. Each one has worked better then the last.

We do have 2 differences - I am using NTFS and have properly submitted bug reports.

So count up the complaints compared to the downloads! Not even 1% are complaining.

Sounds successful to me!

The majority of complaints come from those that did not read the release notes. RTFM mate.

3120 RC1: Successfully Running WinXP & Bootcamp

Hi All

I Now Have WinXP (Home) Running Under Parallels (3120 RC1) from the Bootcamp Partition.
(Bootcamp Is Also Still OK.)

My System Is Fairly Standard:
MacBook Pro 17" 2.33GHz C2D
Bootcamp Partition 32GB FAT32
Windows XP SP2 (Home)

Encouraged By The Fact That A "Few" People Had 3120 RC1 Successfully Running On A MacBook Pro, I decided to Attempt My Own Installation (from A "Clean" Bootcamp Install.)

This Time the Process was Relatively Painless, The Bootcamp Partition (Drivers Installed) Was Immediately Recognised.
The Only Hassle was that I had to Do a Phone Activation of XP Due to the Number of Previous (Re)activations.

(I have been Cautious since My Previous Attempts with Beta 1 & 2 Were Unsuccessful, with the Keyboard/Trackpad being Unrecognised In Both Parallels & Bootcamp. The Result of Which I had to Rebuild & Reactivate My Bootcamp Partition.)

I Now Have My Mac Configured With Windoze As I Would Like. :D
