I've got the dreaded "hal.dll" missing error on my VM, so I need to boot from my Windows XP ISO. It's the same ISO I always boot parallels and install Windows XP with, but now it's telling me booting from CD-ROM failed.

And it's a genuine MSDN Windows XP ISO, too. None of that homemade pirated crap.

    Any help?

    hi,
i have just one assumption with it: it's well known Parallels bug that their BIOS couldn't boot from devices that not first on the bus. So can you check settings of your virtual CD device and change them if necessary (i want to say that LUN device number must be 0).

Got it, set it to IDE 0:1

Didn't used to have to do that. PARALLELS SUPPORT TAKE NOTE.
