A copying problem in the final 3186

I can copy from my iMac to my VM with no problem. However I just can't do vice versa.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Are you using a shared folder via Parallels or a mounted folder via networking? Check the permissions of the mount point in OS X using Finder or if possible, a command line tool. Of interest is the folder owner, and the read/write permissions.

No Dennis, I'm not using shared folders at all. Should I?

I'm kind of embarrassed to admit this, but I don't know what shared folders are exactly. I know it something like the capability of sharing programs with your OSX and your VM.
 
A shared folder is a Parallels mechanism that connects the virtual machine to your host system's file system. It is configured in the VM configureation pages - you have to enable and then identify the OS X folder you'd like to share to Windows. Parallels will install an icon on your Windows desktop when this is enabled and configured.

Network sharing uses the tcp/ip network and file shareing capabilities of OS X and Windows to establish a shared folder and it shows up as a new drive letter such as Z: in your Windows file system explorer.

The problem has been that permissions of the Parallels share have prevented Windows applications from saving files to the OS X file system. I've not been able to duplicate the problem. It seems to never happen when using a network share.
