I've been unable to upgrade WindowsXP to Vista or create a new VM. I immediately get the "This computer is not compliant with the Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI)" message. It never goes as far as asking me for a serial number. It won't boot from the install DVD. I don't understand why some of the people here have been able to install it on Parallels. I get the same problem with 2 different Intel Macs. Since it is a virtual machine after all, is there a "trick" to get past the ACPI?

Discussed thoroughly, maybe, but not solved wih satisfaction for everybody. The F5 trick didn't work for me.wael said:
For no reason I can explain and for what it's worth, I was able to get around it by making a disk image of the install DVD, put it on my HD and install Vista on a new VM using "connect image". No more ACPI problem. Internet connection works. USB devices are recognized.
BUT: Vista is slow
. The sound is choppy. Video is worse. AOL goes on an endless loop. iTunes won't work properly. The Mac itself crawls to a halt.Veni, vidi, vici, maybe, but I'll stick to WindowsXP. For now.
