ACPI compliance with Vista home upgrade

I have a copy of vista home upgrade and wanted to install on parallels.

Installed Win XP and tried to upgrade and got the not ACPI compliant error message.
I used the Actions menu item 'Prepare for vista update' (or similar)

Tried to reinstall Vista and got a message saying XP needed service pack 2

Installed SP2 and tried to reinstall Vista.

Got the same not ACPI compliant error

Tried to use the Actions menu option 'Prepare for vista update' again but it's no longer there.

Does this mean I have to:
Uninstall parallels
reinstall parallels
Install Win XP
Install SP2
Use the Actions menu 'Prepare for vista update'
Upgrade to Vista ?????

What a mess. Is there an easier option?

Hello,
Unfortunately, the license agreement terms of Windows Vista Home do not allow users to install it inside a virtual machine. To see the full text of the license agreement, please read the article below:

In case you can aquire the Vista Business or Vista Ultimate upgrade disks, you can upgrade avoiding the ACPI message, if you change the VM type from Windows XP to Windows Vista before you try to run the 'Prepare for vista update' command.

Great thanks. I only needed to change the OS type of the VM back from Vista to XP and the Actions option reappeared and all worked successfully!!

Poor old Microsoft can't afford to let us use Home versions on VMs.
