Activation problems

I'm sure this has been covered somewhere, but I can't find where. I just upgraded to 3188 from 3096 (had no issues with 3096), but now for some reason windows wants me to reactivate it, even though I haven't changed anything! Wouldn't mind, except that I am out of reactivations. I'll call M$ and get more if I have to, but does anyone have any other ideas?

youre working in a virtual machine.. as such, although nothing transparent may change, the emulation of the underlaying hardware may change slightly in builds, requiring reactivation. Just give them a call and tell them you are reinstalling your machine (dont go into the fact its virtual.. some of them cant understand this). They'll be fine to issue you a new activation code.
