<b>Adobe Illustrator CS2 Benchmark -- Rosetta vs. Parallels</b>
So, which is the faster Adobe Illustrator CS2? OS X version via Rosetta or Windows XP under Parallels?
I wanted to know as Illustrator seemed painfully slow under OS X and harder to use than Photoshop under Rosetta.
Some quick informal testing:
Illustrator CS2 Start up first time
OS X -- 46 seconds
Windows XP Parallels -- 46 seconds (seemed to finish faster but spent about 4-5 seconds thinking about if it was activated yet which it is not)
Open "Kustom Kulture" file in the Sample Art folder:
OS X -- 17 seconds
Windows XP Parallels -- 12 seconds
Illustrator CS2 Startup second time:
OS X -- 17 seconds
Windows XP Parallels -- 8 seconds
Overall the virtualized version seemed significantly faster and more responsive. Pretty amazing.
Test machine:
Mac Mini Core Duo 1.67GHz
2 GB RAM
100GB 5400 RPM HDD
OS X 10.4.6
