AnyDVD 6.4.7.6 (and 6.4.6.9) make Parallels unusable

If I install AnyDVD 6.4.7.6 (or 6.4.6.9) on Parallels 3.0 for Mac (Build 5608) the VM becomes completely unusable.
- it's like interrupts are being fired constantly
- clicking buttons may not respond for minutes
- clicking menus may not respond at all

Any one else seen this?
