I'm trying to install AsteriskNOW into a virtual machine. I downloaded the image and attempted to create a virtual machine. The installer installed CentOS 5 and then took me to a plain, non-GUI log in screen (I had not created an account.) It also gave me the IP address of Asterisk, but required me to open a browser to get there - something I obviously could not do.

Thinking that using just the ISO image might be the problem, I then copied the files to a DVD and attempted to install from that and Parallels could not detect a system to boot from.

Am I trying to do something that can't be done?

No! This is something you CAN OBVIOUSLY DO. Put that IP address in Safari (or whatever browser you use in OS X), that's how you manage your (headless) server.

It might work better with Bridge Network mode (the server IP will be on the same subnet as the host).
