I was wondering how to use the backup server functionality or specifically if it's meant to be implemented the way i want it to be :)
I have a client that accesses their apps from outside the network (terminal server on public ip), but occasionally they access the terminal server from within the lan itself (private ip).
So i thought i'd setup the public FQDN as the primary server and the internal DNS hostname ( as the backup server.
    This however does not work.

How can i get this to work (if possible)?, so the users don't have to change any settings, but can just connect to the server whether inside or outside of the lan?

I would setup both FQDN to be the same like but when resolved externally it would point to the external IP; if being resolved internally, point to the internal IP.
That would work the way you want. No matter where they are they will always be able to connect.
