barcode scanner, number keypad & receipt printer compatibility

I'm a serious newbie so excuse my ignorance.

I am thinking about purchasing Parallels to run Windows XP on my MacBook. I need windows to run consignment Point of Sale software for my business. I'll need to be able to use a barcode scanner, a receipt printer and possibly a number keypad. I've noticed that there are some USB compatibility and printing issues with Parallels. Does this mean I won't be able to print to my receipt printer and use a barcode scanner and numbers keyboard with my POS software?

PS. I'm a mobile business so everything needs to be portable and I don't usually have internet or wireless access when I'm working.

We are considering MAC laptop to do basically the same stuff you wanted to in your post, did you ever get it to work? This is show stopper for us if it won't support our USB handheld scanner. :confused:
