In what is turning out to be the worst vacation ever, I am away from home and windows will not start in parallels. I get a quick blue screen of death that only appears for a second before going to the 'windows had a problem starting' screen where im given the options of safe mode, start normally or last known configuration that worked. the latter 2 dont change anything when selected. i can start in safe mode but now i dont know what to do once im in there. If anyone can get me back into windows today I will fly to their house and mow their lawn or shovel snow for a week. this is killing me as I must access 2 windows only programs in there that damage me every hour that I'm unable to use them for an important work related update. ps: i ran system doctor and now i cant get it to stop. the blue screen cant-start error persists and every time its restarted now i have to sit through the system doctor scan. *cries
We'll need more info. Try and fill this guy out. http://forums.parallels.com/showthread.php?t=16741 Sounds like you are on a time crunch. I bookmarked the thread and will check back in an hour or so.
Just to take a wild guess. When you boot into safe mode, un-install Parallels tools... Then when you boot back up, re-install them. We will really need a full background of what you have done with your machine though.
thanks! I kept reloading the page and getting discouraged at no replies, but it seems the page i had open was only reloading a reply post page - but okay, im in the swing now. macbook pro osx 10.4.10 1 hard drive 2 gb memory 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM no boot camp config parallels 3.0 build 4128 parallels tools installed (will attempt uninstall after i post this)
been almost two hours of trying and still no luck at even logging into safe mode anymore. it just took awhile to load and then went back into the system doctor death circle which takes a very long time. almost done with the latest scan and will try to get into safe mode again when its done.
okay... i cracked and couldnt wait any longer and got some hands on extensive help and windows boots now. course, now there are other problems, but at least it boots up.
Ok, what solved your issue, and what are your new problems? I had to go sit for an exam this morning and I ditched my computer after not seeing a repsonse for a few hours... Sorry. I had to dump the computer early or I would be up all night working on it. Bad habit of mine, it leads to sleep deprivation all the time.
I do not know what fixed it. I guess just the endless scandisk scans actually caught the problem. Nothing changed. I never did get back into safe mode. It just took over 30 hours of the constant scan - restart - scan - restart cycle and all of a sudden one of the restarts logged into windows like nothing had ever happened. most stressed out day ive had in awhile, but bless you for showing it some attention. The problem now is that when I do anything in microsoft Frontpage, the program closes. Ill open a document to work on and when i try to work on it, the thing disappears without warning.
Odd, do you have DirectX enabled? Does it do it on a fresh installation, or a back-up from before your first issue?
I didnt disable directx, but how do i check to see if it is? I didnt fresh install or back up. The system just booted by itself after 20 plus hours of restarting into the Check Disk scanner. =/
Hello, godhelpme, check PD's configuration Editor->Video. directx support should be enabled. Best regards, Alicia.
