The USB support in Parallels seems to be a bit weak. We have a printer and especially a check scanner that will not work properly within Parallels. The printer works partially but reports it is disconnected most of the time while within Parallels. The check scanner will not work at all. The checks are scanned through internet explorer at the bank website (uses activeX crap technology). If I could get the check scanner to work, we could completely eliminate having to boot in windows through bootcamp.

Have you tried setting Parallels to auto-connect to the USB devices?
