When running an upgrade over usb to a blackberry, the device will eventually time out. This of course causes the upgrade to fail. The kludge fix (for those who don't know) is to just keep trying he upgrade. As long as you see it getting to the part where it is loading, it will finish after 20-30 tries. When done the screen might look screwey, just change the theme and you will be fine.

EX720 (evdo rev a data card, express slot) can be seen by windows and appears to install all drivers. The drivers create a mapping from expresscard to usb then map virtual serial ports over usb (through express). When you attempt to send/receive data to the virtual com ports created, either the device is not seen, or it is only seen for a very short period of time. Makes me think the problem with the BB is somehow similar to the EX720.

EX720 use in windows is required because it cannot receive a firmware update in macos at the present time.

This has been an issue since 2.x and now in the 3.x sw, including 4560.

MBP, latest public OS and so on.
