Boot Camp or Virtual Machine for Windows?

Hi.
I'm new to Mac, so I have a lot to learn.
I have a professionnal 3D CAD program that runs only with Windows.
I got Parallels Desktop 3 and tried to use my program this way, but it is SLOW, much too slow.
Since this program is using a lot of resources, I figured it might be better using an external version of Windows XP installed with Boot Camp, but this will imply to reboot my computer each time I need this program.
Is there another way to manage my problem?

How much RAM does your MAC have?

Try increasing the RAM size in your Parallels settings (obviously cannot be more than what your MAC has).

configuration of VM

generally a VM runs well for me
slow running maybe caused by lack of empty hard disk space
a VM should be at least 30 gb in my opinion for WinXp sp3 and more for vista

Windows needs good housekeeping
firewall, virus scanse, defrag for a VM as much as for a PC

you may have malware taking cpu time
what does Task Manager show?

with apple keyboards
use Mac OS >> parallels >> Menu >> Actions >> send Keys > ctrl alt delete

I prefer to use a windows keyboard and a MS 3 button bacis optical mouse
