I was just wondering... why are CD-ROMs attached to the secondary IDE controller not bootable? Maybe I'm just too old school, but something bothers me about configuring the CD-ROM as IDE0:1. John
My dvd burner is on the secondary channel and it boots the comp fine. All my comps are setup with the dvd burner on the secondary channel, you may have a controler problem or a drive problem. don
It's not a problem with my physical host, just with my virtual machines. In creating a new VM, if I take the default which is to put the CD/DVD device as IDE0:1 (primary channel, slave device), I can boot the VM and install an OS from CD (physical or image). If, however, I put the virtual CD/DVD device on IDE1:0 (secondary controller, master device) of the VM, I can't boot from it. So, the issue appears to be with the virtualized hardware. Most likely, it is a limitation of the BIOS of the VM. John
Unfotunately we have some BIOS limitations, that do not allow to boot from secondary controller. In truth, Parallels BIOS does not support secondary controller itself
