BRAND NEW machine runs like built in 1987

i have a BRAND NEW Mac w snow lep on it. right out of the box. a 27" 3.06 ghz machine thats running like I bought it in 1987. in fact it took hours to install this parallels program.

i was running vmware but heard this was a better solution for my AUTOCAD software.

what am i doing wrong or do i need to go back to vm?

any help would be grand!!
 
it took roughly 2 hours to install autocad 2010. i just got done and am awaiting it to open. i will let you know how it goes.... so far it looks like it will take hours to open it.

how long should it take to open? in the past, it was a bout 30 seconds.

honestly, this system cant be bad or nobody here would be using it.

whats wrong with my settings or my brand new machine?
 
ok, acad has just started up. its so slow and skips too much...... basically, its not worth using as is.

thoughts?

- ram allocated to the VM?

- hard drive size?

- number of virtual processors?

- is Parallels Tools installed?

- did you install windows fresh, or did you convert your VMware image?

- is Parallels Tools installed? the newest version.

- did you install windows fresh, or did you convert your VMware image? VM uninstalled totally.

as i said, my machine is right out of the box.
 
PETEY235, RAM allocated to VM can be checked in virtual machine configuration (Virtual Machine menu > Configure). Please note that you can change these memory settings only when virtual machine is stopped. And, you can try to allocate more memory to virtual machine and check the result. Btw, what version of Parallels Desktop are you using? PD 4? PD 5? You can also try to use regular Microsoft USB mouse with AutoCAD.
