Brand spanking new activation key not working

Hi,
We purchased Parallels for a client from Apple.com and attempted to install it immediately after we received it. We have used the activation key on the back of the CD sleeve with no luck. I've seen the posts about substituting O for 0's and 1's for l's, but none of that has worked. There aren't any question marks in the key either. I'm all out of ideas....

We need this key immediately. I can provide the key we're trying if needed.

This is from CD. We purchased online at Apple.com for a client of ours. I'm on the phone with someone I cannot understand trying to get a new key. I figured it would be better to pay the $30 than make the client wait any longer.

Although, oddly enough....it doesn't sound like this guy wants to send me a new key.
