Bridged Networking: great; Shared Networking: limited connectivity

Hello, folks. I love Parallels, and have been using it a couple of months, but, all of a sudden, I have run into trouble.

In early November, I installed build 1970 to get the Shared Networking feature. This way, I could use hotel connections more easily, rather than having to log in from Windows or Mac OS each time I switched back and forth. For 2-3 weeks, this worked great. Now, I open up my machine after being away for 1 day, and when I fire up Windows XP, I'm told I have limited or no connectivity, due to not receiving a valid IP address from the DHCP server.

It always sounds stupid when someone else says it, but I make the claim: I don't think I changed anything.

When I go back to Bridged Ethernet, everything is fine. Since I'm going to be in a hotel room in a few days, it would be nice to figure this out by then. :)

So what information do you folks need from me to help me diagnose the problem? I will post as follow-ups all the routine stuff I can think of. I've checked some of the other threads, and I've ruled out crashing pvsnatd, but beyond that, I have no idea.

Thanks for your help.

jbrains,

Please try restarting pvsnatd via 'sudo killall -9 pvsnatd' followed by 'sudo /Library/StartupItems/Parallels/pvsnatd'.
You can check if it helped without starting your VM. Open System Preferences -> Network, select 'Parallels Host-Guest' or 'Parallels NAT' in the 'Show' dropdown and click 'Renew DHCP lease' button on TCP/IP page. IP Address should appear shortly.
