Using build 1898 I created two new VMs. In one I installed WinXP -- completely through the install, activation, install of F-Secure, several reboots. Did not install the tools. That was yesterday.
Today I started that VM, it got to the point of "loading your settings" and poof back to the properties window. Hit the green triangle again and this time it got just to the first Windows screen and poof again. This is exactly what happened with the first winxp VM with the previous build -- runs great the first day, the next day it won't stay up more than a few seconds.
I would be more than happy to take any kind of debugging action that would help diagnose this problem. Just tell me what to do.
The second VM I built yesterday was loaded from Ubuntu - did full install, updated all components, used CPAN to install multiple perl modules, all good. Today that VM is still running and usable - for now - later I used the Ubuntu machine to post a note to this forum, then shut it down. Then I started it up again and damnit!! it poofed just after user login. On a second try it stayed up a little longer but now I can't trust it to stay up.
later still On second reboot the Ubuntu machine stayed up for 30 minutes of light use. So at least it isn't totally unusable -- like winXP one now is, it won't stay up for any time.
