With Parallels Desktop 3 I have noticed poor disk performance with Vista Ultimate edition and was wondering if anybody else could give me some suggestions on how to improve the disk activity.

I am running Vista Ultimate in Parallels with 1gb of Memory on an MacBook Pro 17" with a 100gb 7200rpm Drive (Intel Core Duo). I also have the avast! Antivirus scanner installed from www.avast.com.

Most of the time in my Windows Vista virtual machine I also run Visual Studio 2005 with Office 2007 in the background (mostly Outlook).

Has anybody else noticed the poor disk quality with Parallels? Does anybody have any suggestions on how to improve it? Is there another antivirus scanner I can try on the internet that is free? Is there any services I can disable safely?

    Any help is appricated,
    Chris Zenzel

Hi, how did you analyze poor disk perfomance?
About antivirus: you can try to use shipped with Parallels desktop 3.0 Kaspersky Internet Security. Just push Actions->Install Kaspersky... menu item when your VM started,Vista loaded and you logon in it.
