Build 5604 Tools always want to reinstall

Since installing build 5604, my Vista VM wants to keep reinstalling Parallels Tools. The auto run installer for Parallels Tools comes up each time and the Install Shield begins, but I then get a message saying asking me to restart the Virtual Machine to complete the previous install of Parallels Tools. So then I try to restart and the VM never completely shuts down...Vista gets stuck at the "Shutting Down" screen. And after force quitting the VM, the whole nasty cycle begins again.

I tried removing Parallels Tools from Boot Camp and via safe mode, but both tries were unsuccessful.

I could use some suggestions.

I've done that. Upon booting, I get the message that Parallels Tools are initializing. Then after the boot completes, the exec file wants to run. When I try to run it, the error message says I must restart the virtual machine and if I don't, I won't be able to do anything with Parallels: reinstall, reconfigure etc. So, then when I shut down Vista in order to restart the VM, either the shutting down stalls or it DOES restart, but the restarting makes no difference when I again try to install the Tools. At this point, I've uninstalled virtually all of Parallels Tools and STILL can't get it reinstalled because the symptoms haven't changed - I'm back in the endless loop.
