Hello, This is actually multiple questions, but I didn't want to mass-post on the board. (1) I noticed that even when I'm using Parallels to the fullest on my MacBook 2.0Ghz, it only uses 40% of the CPU cycles. So I was wondering if it was possible to make Parallels use MORE CPU cycles? (2) Does anyone know what causes this limitation? Is it because of my slow hard drive perhaps? (3) Will using a faster hard drive increase Parallels performance? Will using a very fast external firewire drive increase Parallels performance? (4) And if anyone has general tips on increasing performance, I'd like to know Thanks!
Well, that 40% is actually 80% of one CPU core, and since the virtualization can only use one core, that's not too bad.
I don't think so, Sheppy. With a dual core machine, you have up to 200% as reported by top, so if something is running at 40%, it's 40% if one core.
