Cannot access USB pen drive

I have a standard 1 gb USB 2.0 pen drive. When I try to connect it to the VM by pulling down the device menu and selecting "usb drive" in the usb options, the VM just freezes up and eventually I have to force quit Parallels. Really irritating.

Anyone else had this problem?

Have you tried setting your USB to auto-connect?

Also, can you connect the drive to OS X? If so, you can set-up a shared folder in Windows that points to the pen drive.
