I've just paid for and downloaded Parallels Desktop; when I try to install it, it says that it 'cannot be installed on this computer' and to 'make sure your system meets the requirements', but I cannot imagine which it doesn't fulfill. I have tons of free space on a g5 PowerMac.

    Can someone help?

Your architecture is PowerPC, Parallels Desktop is only supported on Intel based Macs

John forgot to mention that if you purchased it less than 14 days ago you probably can get a refund.

1.3 By placing an order on this site you agree to abide by these conditions. If you are a 'consumer' (purchasing outside the scope of your business), then these conditions do not affect your statutory rights where these cannot be limited or excluded by applicable law.
1.3.1 For products: up to fourteen (14) days after the date of delivery (or of the date of receipt?) Of the products
1.3.2 For services: up to fourteen (14) days after the date of us accepting your order.

(click on 'Rights of Cancellation' to read the rest in the order/buy page)

Next time, be sure to check the system requirements of an app specially since you're running on a PPC and development nowadays tends to get Intel centric.
