Cannot Eject CD

On my iMAC while installing Windows software I have twice got stuck with a CD that cannot be ejected. It seems to be that if I insert the CD while VM is running it 'takes' the CD (no CD image appears in OSX). In certain situations I cannot eject from WIndows and eject key has no effect in OSX. Only recource is to reboot the iMac at which point the CD is found.
Is there a work around?
 
You should disconnect CD from VM first. To do so go to menu Devices->CD/DVD-ROM->Disconnect or right click on status bar CD indicator and also Disconnect.
