Cannot enter Windows Product Key

So, I cannot enter a Windows product key so that I can complete my installation. I know the product key is good, because I did a test install on a spare computer with a spare drive I had (I just didn't activate the product).

Parallels Desktop 6 is installed, the very latest build has been installed and updated. Windows 7 starts to install, but at the point at which you are required to enter a product key, it won't take the key, and again, I KNOW this key will work with this CD. (NOTE: this question is NOT about activation, I can't even get that far yet.....)....

Anyone have any insights?

You can try the manual installation where you have full control over the installation process, step for step. You are asked to enter the serial there as well but this is the original MS installation as it would be on a physical machine. If your key is valid, this will work.
