Cannot format brand new USB drive

Hi,

I just connected a new external USB drive (160GB) when running Windows XP in Parallels.
XP will notice the drive and say it is installed. As it will not show now in My Computer, I can create a partition (see image 1) and the letter "E" is assigned to the drive using Windows XP Disk Management.

When I go in My Computer, I see the E: drive but it asks me to format the drive (Image 2).

I choose NTFS (that is the only choice, Image 3).

I receive a message "Windows cannot format" (image 4).

And then a Blue Screen (image 5).

After that I used Mac OS X to format the drive in FAT32 and it is showing in Parallels.
But it is possible for Parallels to format external USB drive in NTFS ? Since Mac OS X cannot....

To use an external USB or Firewire drive, format it in OSX, and use Parallels to create an .hdd file on it. Attach the .hdd to your VM, and format the .hdd in Windows.

Parallels does not currently support diredct access to a partition.

I can use now the real partition on a real USB drive for normal read/write/delete operations.
So I guess it is kind of supported by Parallels. Also creating a partition on new USB drive did work.
